Known as the fastest and most powerful production car by Land Rover, Range Rover Sport will be showing what it’s capable of doing at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is going to be the venue where we are going to behold the Range Rover Sport make its debut. This would be the first time anyone would feast his eyes on this piece of art which is known as the most powerful yet fastest production car ever built by Land Rover. Pretty exciting, ehh? But alas, this beauty will make only a brief appearance before going to sale next year.

It’s the Ranger Rover Sport SVR and it still is in the middle of development programmes, that is why it is wearing a disguise for the time being. It is going to appear in the series of runs up the hill, showing the world what its 543 hp mighty engine is capable of, and why nothing stands in its way. Powered by a high-performance 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, this car shares the same unit the Jaguar R-S models share.

According to what Jaguar Land Rover has stated, it will be the first ever vehicle form Land Rover to war the SVR badge, and all the future high-performance models will wear it proudly.

JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations team is responsible of creating Sport SVR, and in order to be eligible of wearing a SVR badge, this car as well as all other future cars, will strictly have to meet the stringent key performance criteria set to keep the quality and performance at its best. All SVR models are planned to be built on the same lines as other production vehicles and then to be sold worldwide through Land Rover dealers.

The ongoing standard models of Range Rover Sport with most powerful engine produces only 503 hp and take a sprint to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. It is speculated that the SVR will hit 62 mph in around 4.5 seconds and that’s what Land Rover is anxiously looking for.
