If you can get your hands on additive manufacturing tools, then in a few clicks, you can own yourself a brand new Ford Mustang

Thanks to internet, almost everything is now downloadable. Everything? Yes! Everything. Like various models of Ford has been uploaded to the internet in form of digital 3D printing files. All you need to have is, your hands on some additive manufacturing tools and Voila! You have got yourself a Ford Mustang.

What models are available for download and how?

The 3D printing files can be found at “The Ford 3D Store” where for £3.22, each ofthese .STL files can be bought. Focus ST, Fiesta ST, F-150 Raptor, and Shelby GT350R schematics are available online for the Ford fans.

So you can print a full-scale Mustang?

No, you can’t. These schematics files are available in 1:32 scale so the printed form will be a 6 inches miniature. But no worries, Ford has made this scale adjustable so that it may meet each individual’s needs and requirements. By 2018, Ford is expecting the sale of its 3D desktop printers to exceed 1 million units.

According to Mark Bentley, Ford Licensing Manager, they have been using this technology for a long time now. Printing 3D prototypes parts is a lot of fun and Ford wants to share this with their enthusiast fans.

What if we don’t have the ingredients?

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have access to a 3D printer, or the necessary ingredients like vibraniums, resins, and polycarbonates to print your desired model, you can simply buy a single colour PLA plastic pre-formed replica. Ford has announced that on June 15, an extremely detailed model of the all-new GT will be available in full colour sandstone version.

As a side note, Honda is the first ever auto manufacturer who made available the schematics for many of its concepts cars, but they were all free to download. They included the original NSX Concept, gel-filled Puyo concept and the Motor Compo scooter.
